A few weeks ago, the gals and I got together for a cookie exchange. It was a perfect way to kick off the holidays before everyone dispersed for their respective holiday activities.

I brought the family favorite “Caramel Cream Sandwich Cookies,” which are a take on the classic sugar cookie, so rich that seldom makes an appearance but once a year. The recipe is a tightly sealed family secret, but imagine a dense brown-sugar cookie with a caramel-cream brown butter frosting, dipped in festive sprinkles. The best.

The classic peanut butter blossoms made an appearance, as well as the requisite sugar cookie, ginger cookie, all time favorite oatmeal chocolate chip cookie, and – a new one for me – the peanut butter reindeers, using chocolate covered pretzels for antlers. We also used Moomin cookie cutters and had some pretty hilarious frosting attempts for the sugar and ginger cookies. All were delicious!

I hope you are all cooking up a storm for Christmas and putting on your winter coat! After all, that’s what New Years Resolutions are for.
